Equestrian Statue of Louis XV
by Edme Bouchardon (1698 - 1762).

Commissioned in 1748 and cast Saturday 6 May 1758. Originally the contract for the casting was made with Varin Pere et Fils but with the death of the father a new contract was made with Pierre Gor, Commissaire Général des Fontes at the Arsenal, Paris. He was assisted by Maritz, Inspecteur Général des Fontes de l’Artillerie de France.
After casting the chiselling and final finishing which was supervised by Pigalle after the death of Bouchardon took a further 5 years.
The statue was installed Place Louis XV (now Place de Concorde), Paris
